Bhubaneswar: The state government has agreed to look into several proposals for international collaboration in higher education.
The proposals were mooted during a web session between Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo and representatives of Odisha Society of Americas (OSA), state government officials and vice-chancellors of different universities.
Sahoo addressed the current issues and challenges before higher education sector in Odisha and appreciated the efforts of the Global Higher Education Committee (GHEC) of the OSA in the field.
It was agreed upon during the interaction that the international community would host webinars and formulate topics on institutional development depending on the needs of various departments of universities. Besides, the universities in Odisha will facilitate the international students as well as faculty exchange programmes starting with US universities.
The Higher Education department will ensure availability of upgraded WIFI Broadband in all university campuses expeditiously and update the faculty profile and their research interests in the university websites so that the GHEC will facilitate the collaboration with the international faculty members and researchers.
It was also proposed for formation of a strong alumni database for each university leveraging the ongoing “Mo College” initiative. The proposal of formation of an external advisory council for the universities was also discussed.
