Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has been requested to protect the milestone at the junction of the 3 state borders in Malkangiri district, which is likely to be submerged due to Pollabharam project of Andhra Pradesh.
In a letter to VK Pandian, secretary (5T) to chief minister, Vishal Odisha Kranti Parishad has stated that the tri-junction stone at Motu in Malkangiri is an important milestone as the borders of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh meet here.
“Once the tri-junction stone gets submerged in Pollabharam project, it will be extremely difficult, rather impossible, to identify the point. Since the point is on Odisha soil, it is the duty of the state government to preserve it at any cost,” the letter read.
“We suggest that a large concrete structure may be built at the tri-junction point to identify Odisha border point. The Malkangiri district administration may be directed to construct the structure of 6-7 ft above the water level,” the letter added.
