Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced waiver of entertainment tax on Odia feature film “Delivery Boy”.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday gave his approval to a proposal for waiver of the entertainment tax on the film, according to a release from chief minister’s office (CMO). “Our government has been working on attracting more and more films to be shot in Odisha. It would not only provide scope to the talents of the state but also generate employment,” the chief minister said.
“Delivery Boy”, produced by Jyoti Ranjan Mohanty and directed by Aswini Tripathy, is based on the struggle of delivery boys in urban areas in their daily lives. It shows the fight of protagonist, a delivery boy, for justice after he meets a road accident. The Odia film also aims at promoting road safety guidelines among the audience.
Actors Buddhaditya Mohanty, Sialendra Samantray, Sushant Dasmohapatra, Priyambada and Suryamani have played main roles in the film.
It may be noted that the state government had waived the entertainment tax on Kapil Shamra starrer ‘Zwigato’ , which is directed by Nandita Das. The film was released in theatres across India on March 17.
The movie is set in Bhubaneswar and follows the journey of an ex-factory floor manager and his family as he is forced to work as a food delivery rider, grappling with the app on his phone and the world of ratings and incentives.
