Bhubaneswar: The state government on Friday announced waiver of hostel fees of students of engineering colleges and polytechnic institutes from April 2020 to December 2020.
The Skill Development and Technical Education department stated that around 17000 boarders will benefit from the waiver which was announced as the hostels were closed during the period due to COVID-19 pandemic. It will cost a loss of Rs 5.1 crore to the state exchequer.
In February, the government had waived the hostel fees of its ITIs for the benefit of around 30000 students in the State.
