Bhubaneswar: In a good news for the users of public toilets in urban areas, the Odisha government has waived the user fee across the state.
In a letter to commissioners of all municipal corporations and executive officers of municipalities and NACs, the Housing and Urban Development department has directed to ensure that user fee is not collected from the people coming to public and community toilets.
The department has also asked the officials to put up notices mentioning the fee waiver at those toilets prominently. The notice can be displayed through wall-paintings, boards andothers.
The government has also requested the people not to pay the user fee and lodge complaint with ‘Mo Sahar Sarkar’ helpline number, if they are asked to pay.
According to sources, the government would meet the expenditure in this regard from SBM (Urban) fund under IEC component available with the ULBs.
