Bhubaneswar: Following the death of a woman passenger after a bus coming from Kolkata to Paradip caught fire on Friday night, Odisha government has issued a strict warning against carrying firecrackers in the buses.
Speaking to media persons on Saturday, deputy fire officer of Bhubaneswar Abani Swain said there are strict rules against carrying any kind of explosives including firecrackers in buses due to the threat to the passengers. Violation of the rules will lead to penalty as per the law.
“Unfortunately, some people do not follow the rules and continue to carry firecrackers in passenger buses. We have already carried out awareness drive among bus employees and public against such practices. Now we will enforce the rules strictly,” he added.
Transport commissioner Amitabh Thakur has also warned the people against carrying explosive materials including firecrackers in the buses.
