Bhubaneswar: The relaxation in upper age limit in recruitment to state government jobs will not be applicable to the posts for which the recruitment process has already been started.
The General Administration department in a letter to recruiting agencies of the government has stated that the ongoing recruitment process should not be affected by the new order as it is not applicable to it. The order aims at helping the over-aged candidates apply for government jobs.
The letter sent to Odisha Public Service Commission, Odisha Staff Selection Commission and Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission clarified that the age relaxation will be applicable in the cases where the last date of application for recruitment to any post is still not over, as on date of issue of the notification.
Informing about age relaxation to the media on January 10, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra had said the State cabinet had approved a proposal to enhance the upper age limit of all government jobs from 32 years to 38 years. The Cabinet took the decision to enable youth who could not appear the recruitment examinations because of COVID situation, and run out of age during last two years, he added.
The upper age limit for those belonging to ST, SC and SEBC categories has been raised to 43 years and for general candidates with disabilities to 48 years. The women candidates can apply upto 43. For PwD candidates of ST, SC and SEBC categories, the upper age limit has been fixed at 53 years. The relaxation in the upper age limit has been made for 2021, 2022 and 2023.
