Rayagada: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended Gunupur Block Education Officer in Odisha’s Raygada district on charges of demanding and accepting bribe.
Koraput wing of Vigilance sleuths said the BEO identified as Antaryami Behera has demanded bribe of Rs 10,000 from a retired teacher to release pending arrear dues and submit service book for finalisation of pension.
Basing on the complaint, a trap was laid and the accused was caught red-handed by the Vigilance. “The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused. In this connection a case has been registered and further investigation is continuing,” said an official.
