Bhubaneswar: Odisha Governor and Chancellor of Universities Ganeshi Lal suspended two teachers of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) and dismissed another from service on Saturday.
Also, show-cause notices were sent to 15 teachers of VSSUT in Sambalpur.
The action against the teachers came after a recommendation from the Skill Development and Technical Education department.
According to reports, the faculty members of VSSUT are on a week-long protest to demand the ouster of vice-chancellor Atal Chaudhuri, alleging he was apathetic towards the development of the varsity.
The agitating teachers alleged that no noticeable development has been done in the varsity since the appointment of Prof Chaudhuri of Jadavpur University as the vice-chancellor in January 2018.
They also said that though the students were being asked to pay an annual fee of Rs 8,000 for a corpus fund, there has been no infrastructure development in the university till date.
On the other hand, the VC refuted the allegation and said that he has done no wrong. He alleged that the faculty members were not calling off their protest to discuss the issues and misbehaved with him in his chamber.
