Dhenkanal: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended head clerk of Dhenkanal Law College, Uttam Kumar Rout, while allegedly receiving Rs 8,500 bribe.
According to sources, the Vigilance team laid a trap and caught the inspector red-handed while he was accepting the bribe amount from an ex-student to deliver his Law Degree (LLB) Certificate. Rout had allegedly demanded Rs 10,000. He later agreed to issue the certificate on payment of Rs 8,500 bribe.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption(Amendment) Act, 2018, and simultaneous searches are being conducted at his residential house in Dhenkanal town to ascertain disproportionate assets.
