Cuttack: Odisha’s Health Minister Niranjan Pujari faced an embarrassing situation at the Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre in Cuttack when he was confronted by the contractual para-medical and nursing staff on Thursday.
Sources said the incident took place when Pujari was at the centre to attend an important meeting. He was confronted and gheraoed by the contractual para-medical and nursing staff, who were demanding permanent job.
The protesters lied down on the road and obstructed the route of the Minister despite tight security arrangement. They demanded that their jobs be regularised by the government at the earliest.
“We have been employed on contractual basis for the last three years, yet no action has been taken by the government to make our employment permanent”, said a protesting nurse.
The protesters called off the protest after being assured by the Minister of quick action on their demands.
