Brajarajnagar: Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das was shot at in Brajarajnagar in Odisha’s Jharsuguda on Sunday.
The incident took place near Gandhi Chhak here as he stepped out of the car to attend an official programme and his supporters were garlanding him. A policeman reportedly fired at least four to five rounds and a bullet hit him in the chest. The minister collapsed immediately after the incident. A local youth and a police officer also sustained bullet injuries.
Das, who has been representing the Jharsuguda assembly constituency since 2009, was rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH), where a special team of doctors are treating him.
According to sources, he was in the town to inaugurate two new office buildings of chairman and vice-chairman of Brajrajnagar municipality.
On February 21, 2014, two bullets were fired at the then Law Minister Maheswar Mohanty in Puri. He survived the attack.
