Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government, as a reform measure in the Plus II-level education, has directed all Higher Secondary Schools in the state to conduct Class XI annual examination as per uniform calendar.
The examination will be conducted in the CHSE (Odisha) pattern covering full course of Class -XI.
In a letter, the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE) has asked the principals of these schools to hold the annual examination for Class XI students in the second fortnight of February of the academic year.
The DHSE, however, has allowed the schools to prepare question paper on their own for the Class XI annual examination, evaluate the answer scripts and prepare the tabulation register in excel format.
The letter further read that the Higher Secondary Schools will have to send the tabulation excel sheet to DHSE (Odisha) at dhse.examination@gmail.com. “After getting clearance from DHSE, the students who have passed the annual examination shall be promoted to Class XII,” it added.
The Higher Secondary Schools will also conduct summer remedial classes for the students, who could not secure pass marks in the examination of Class XI. And another exam will be held for promotion of such students to Class XII before the next academic session. This order will take effect from this academic year, the letter stated.
The DHSE has also asked principals of the Higher Secondary Schools to take preparatory steps for the smooth conduct of annual examination for Class XI students.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, School and Mass Education Minister Sameer Dash said that Plus II 1st year students will not be promoted to second year if they score less than 33 per cent mark in the annual exam. “Students will have two chances to clear backlogs with 1st remedial exam from February 15 to 29 and 2nd clearance exam during May-end,” he added.
