Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday increased the compensation amount for the loss of life due to attack by wild animals to Rs ten lakh from Rs six lakh.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved a proposal in this regard taking into account the loss of life and property caused due to attacks by wild animals, mainly in areas near forests.
The state government had last increased the compensation in May, 2023.
Apart from hiking the compensation amount in case of deaths, the state government also decided to provide houses under Antyodaya Gruha Yojana or equivalent financial assistance in case of damage caused to dwelling units.
In case of damage caused to essential structures like kitchen, food grain storage units and cowsheds, an amount of Rs 3,000 would be provided as financial assistance.
