Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday sought the sought the status report on the police investigation into the alleged honeytrap racket of lady blackmailer Archana Nag.
While hearing the bail plea of the honeytrap racket accused, the High Court asked the police to submit the status report on the progress made in the investigation in the sensational case, sources said.
The High Court had earlier in January called for the case diary relating to the arrest of Archana Nag on an FIR registered against her at Nayapalli police station in Bhubaneswar.
Archana had moved the High Court for regular bail in connection with the sextortion case filed by Ollywood filmmaker Akshay Parija at the Nayapalli police station after rejection of her bail plea by the lower court last year.
Archana was arrested after Akshay Parija lodged a complaint at the Nayapalli police station alleging that she along with her associate had been blackmailing him for money.
Archana is accused of extorting money from influential people by blackmailing them with objectionable videos. Currently, she is in the judicial custody in jail.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is also investigating a money laundering case relating to Archana’s honeytrap racket.
Archana and her husband allegedly accumulated assets worth crores of rupees in just four years by extorting money from influential persons through blackmail and honeytrap. The ED has so far traced Rs 2.5 crore deposited in their accounts between 2017 and 2022.
