Jajpur: A man, who was attacked by burglars, succumbed to injuries at Bari Community Health Centre in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the deceased, identified as Biswaranjan Biswal of Chatumari Village within Ramchandrapur police limits, was sleeping on the verandah when burglars attempted to break into his house on Monday night. He woke up startled on hearing some noises and raised an alarm. Alerted, the burglars pounced on him and thrashed him mercilessly before fleeing the spot.
Biswal was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition and died while undergoing treatment.
On being informed, Bari-Ramchandrapur police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident, the sources added.
