Odisha IAS Officer New DoPT Secy

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Tuhin Kanta Pandey, 1987-batch IAS officer of Odisha cadre, was on Monday assigned the additional charge of Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).

This comes almost two months after he was designated as the Finance Secretary.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has assigned him the additional charge with immediate effect and till the appointment of a regular incumbent, the order issued by the Personnel Ministry said.

Prior to his appointment as Finance Secretary, Pandey was the longest-serving Secretary in charge of Departments of Public Enterprises (DPE), and Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM). He oversaw major disinvestment programme, including sale of Air India. He also supervised the public listing of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).

He had served as Sambalpur collector in Odisha.

Pandey also had a stint at United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Regional Office. In 2009, he was appointed as Joint Secretary in the Planning Commission for five years. In 2021, he briefly took on additional responsibility as Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
