Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) flagship Regional Connectivity Scheme UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) has been awarded the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2020 under the ‘Innovation (General) – Central’ category.
Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M Scindia presented the award to the UDAN team led by Odisha-cadre IAS officer Usha Padhee e, who later tweeted: “I personally feel humbled being a part of the initiative.”
She is currently posted as Joint Secretary, MoCA, and has played a key role in UDAN implementation.
So far, 67 destinations have been connected and 419 new air routes have been started under UDAN launched in 2016. Over 92 lakh people have benefited from it. “We have the target of reaching 100 airports and 1,000 routes by 2024,” she said.

The Centre has initiated this award to acknowledge, recognize and reward extraordinary and innovative work done by districts and organizations of state and government.
