Bhubaneswar: Arrested Odisha cadre IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak and his son Akash Pathak landed in fresh trouble as police registered a cheating case against them.
The managing partner of ‘Skyking’, a Bhubaneswar-based travel agency on Tuesday filed an FIR at the Kharavela Nagar Police Station in the city against Abhay and Akash alleging that they had cheated his company to the tune of over Rs 65 lakh.
The travel agency alleged that Akash, posing himself as the Managing Director of the passenger vehicle division of Tata Motors Limited (TML) had booked chartered flights, air tickets and hotels for several locations. Their total bill amounted to around Rs 2.78 crore. But they paid Rs 2.13 crore and refused to pay the rest amount of Rs 65,16,233, the complainant said.
He further alleged that when the agency approached the duo for clearing the dues, they threatened its staff of dire consequences.
After registering the case, a team from the Commissionerate Police went to the travel agency’s office on Wednesday morning and reportedly confiscated some document submitted by Akash for the bookings.
While Abhay has been arrested by Vigilance in disproportionate assets case, Akash faces fraud charges. They are presently lodged in judicial custody till December 9.
