Bhubaneswar: The new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility Policy-2022 were among the 17 proposals approved by the Odisha cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday.
The policy, aimed at reducing vehicular pollution, recommends mandatory scrapping of over 15 years old vehicles at the scrapping centre. The owners will also get incentives to buy new vehicles.
Ahead of the Make in Odisha conclave, where the government hopes to attract over Rs 6 lakh crore investment, the cabinet also gave the go-ahead to Industrial Policy Resolution (IPR) 2022 for the next five years. This policy aims to transform Odisha into an “industrial hub of eastern India”.
Similarly, Odisha Logistics Policy 2022, which would create an integrated logistics system to enhance competitiveness, operational efficiency and sustainability while strengthening the state’s position as a preferred destination for trade and commerce, got the nod.
The policy would also facilitate private sector investment, leading to employment generation in Odisha.
To boost employment and enhance economic growth, the cabinet approved Odisha Apparel and Technical Textiles Policy-2022. It will facilitate ancillary and back-end support to industries, online transfer of incentives to beneficiaries in a transparent manner and include incentives like capital investment subsidy, employment cost subsidy and market development initiatives.
The Export Promotion Policy 2022 to take Odisha to the league of top five exporting states and achieve an export target of Rs 3.5 lakh crore by 2026-27 was also approved. It advocates diversification of Odisha’s export basket by facilitating value addition.
