Odisha Invokes ESMA, Bans Power Sector Strikes For Six Months



Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has prohibited strikes across the state’s electricity sector for six months under the Odisha Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 1988 (ESMA).

The order, issued by the Home department, comes into force with immediate effect.
The order covers all establishments and personnel under major power utilities and organisations, including GRIDCO, OPTCL, OHPC, OPGC, TPCODL, TPNODL, TPSODL, TPWODL, along with other power sector entities operating in the state.

The move has been aimed at ensuring uninterrupted power generation, transmission and distribution services across the state, safeguarding essential electricity supply and grid operations
