Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has extended the suspension period of IPS officer Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao for another 60 days with effect from January 26.
The decision was taken while reviewing his suspension on January 22.
“A meeting of the Review Committee to review the suspension case of Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao, IPS, was held on 22.01.2025 under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary and the Review Committee after perusing all the relevant documents and considering the facts and materials placed before it, recommended for continuance of suspension of Shri Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao, (PS for a further period of 60 (sixty days) wef 26.01.2025 unless revoked earlier,” the notification issued by the Home department said.
The 2007-batch IPS officer was suspended for 60 days on July 27, 2024, for allegedly misusing his position while serving as DIG, Fire Services & Home Guards. He was accused of forcibly entering a woman inspector’s home and misbehaving with her. It was extended by another 120 days on September 27, 2024, which was to end on January 25, 2025.
