Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s javelin star Kishore Kumar Jena is on a high.
Having finished a creditable fifth in the World Athletics Championships with a personal best effort of 84.77 metres at Budapest two weeks ago, Kishore stood tallest on the podium at the Indian Grand Prix 5 on Sunday.
Kishore’s best throw of 82.53 metres was good enough to fetch him gold medal at Chandigarh.
Another ace Odisha athlete Srabani Nanda finished first in the women’s 100m.
Though she was not fully satisfied with her timing of 11.77 seconds, Srabani looked forward to the relay event tomorrow.
It will be an important race as the Indian relay team will look to qualify for the upcoming Huangzhou Asian Games.
