Odisha JMFC Court Clerk Caught Taking Rs 50,000 Bribe


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths apprehended a senior clerk attached to the Court of the JMFC at Mathili in Malkangiri district while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000.

According to a Vigilance statement, clerk Achyut Kumar Pradhan had demanded the bribe from a complainant to provide relief in respect of two Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWs) issued against his cousin in two cases. Unable to meet the demand, the complainant informed Vigilance authorities.

Based on the complaint, a team of Vigilance officials laid a trap on Thursday and caught Pradhan red-handed while taking the bribe amount of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from his possession and seized.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at his residential locations from a disproportionate assets angle.

In this connection, Koraput Vigilance PS registered a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Investigation is in progress.
