Jaipur: Justice Indrajit Mahanty took oath as Chief Justice of Rajastan High Court on Sunday. Governor of Rajastan Kalraj Mishra administered the oath in presence of chief minister Ashok Gehlot.
He is the senior-most judge of Orissa High Court and prior to this appointment, served as the Justice of the Bombay High Court.
He is the 37th Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court.
Born on November 11, 1960, in Cuttack, Justice Mahanty did his senior secondary school from Mount Hermon School, Darjeeling, and completed B.Com (Hon) from the erstwhile Ravenshaw College, Cuttack.
He pursued Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, and Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Cambridge, UK.
He enrolled as an advocate with the Odisha State Bar Council in 1984. He began legal practice under his father late Br. Ranjit Mahanty. He was elevated as a Judge of the Orissa High Court on March 30, 2006.
