Kendrapada: The coastal district of Kendrapada registered 243 COVID positive cases in the last 24 hours. The positive cases figure has crossed 200 mark in the district for the first time this year, informed district collector Amrit Ruturaj.
With this the total number of active cases went up to 1104. Of these active cases, the blocks of Rajnagar, Kendrapada and Derabis have more than 500 cases.
The district has been taken adequate measures to check the spread of COVID cases. Areas like Jalakana and Mahakalpada have been declared as containment zones while Bagada panchayat has been declared micro-containment zone, the collector said.
Stating that the rise in positive cases is due to the intensified identification drive and contact tracing during the lockdown, he said .
Both enforcement and awareness activities will be strengthened further, he said and added that strict action is being taken against COVID violators by the police.
About vaccination, the Collector said the number of session sites might vary from day to day depending on the availability of the vaccine. The same will be notified on the sites for the convenience of the public, he added.
