Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday apprehended junior engineer of Khurda block Sangeeta Mohapatra while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
According to an official release, she had demanded the illegal gratification for passing the final bills for release of payment in connection with a development work executed by the complainant. The entire bribe amount was recovered and seized from her possession.
Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to Mohapatra to ascertain whether she had accumulated assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
A case under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, has been registered at Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station and further investigation is on, it added.
