Puri: A four-foot-long king cobra was rescued from a car bonnet at a village near Pipili Bagheswarpur village under Pipili block in Puri district on Sunday night.
Sources said one Gopal Chandra Panda, a resident of Bagheswarpur village, spotted the snake in his car and informed Snake Helpline.
A Snake Helpline member, Sushanta Kumar Behera, soon reached the spot and rescued the snake with the help of a hook. He then released the snake in a jungle far away from the village.
