Bhubaneswar: A labourer from Odisha died in a road mishap in Saudi Arabia on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Narendra Palei, a resident of Gopinath Prasad village in Ayatpur panchayat of Khurda district.
Palei was working as a plumber in a private company in Saudi Arabia since the last eight years. He met with an accident while returning home after duty and died on the spot.
Following this, Palei’s son Ullas, has appealed to the state government through media to make appropriate arrangements to bring back his body to his native place for performing the last rites.
“An investigation will be initiated into death of Palei and a report shall be submitted to the labour commission for further action,” said Balugaon Labour Officer, Santosh Kumar Mohanty.
The body will be brought back after discussion with the Saudi government. However, it usually takes at least two-three weeks for completion of the formalities in this regard, Mohanty added.
