Berhampur: For the first time in Odisha, visually impaired persons will get braille booklets for information on HIV/AIDS.

As many as 1,000 awareness booklets were printed at Berhampur’s computerized Braille Printing Press on the occasion of World AIDS Day on Sunday and sent to Bhubaneswar.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to  release these booklets and distribute them to visually impaired people at a state-level HIV/AIDS programme in Bhubaneswar.

“Visually impaired persons will know about the causes and eradication of the disease through these booklets. Awareness should be created in society on the disease. As visually impaired people could not get information about AIDS, we have printed these booklets,” informed Ganjam CDMO Dr Bijaya Kumar Panigrahi.

“There are many information on the causes of the disease and its prevention in the booklets. There are also information on anti-retroviral treatment (ART) centres and other details in them,” said Braille Press Manager Prakash Narayan Rath.
