Bhubaneswar: The state government has launched an IAS coaching programme for poor students to arrest the falling number of Odia IAS officers in Odisha.
“The number of Odia IAS officers is declining in the state. The government has received proposals from different circles to provide IAS coaching to Odia students. Thus, an IAS coaching programme for Odia students has started,” Higher Education Minister Dr Arun Kumar Sahoo informed the Assembly on Wednesday.
The government had signed an agreement in this regard with Dhyeya IAS on March 7, the minister said.
As many as 100 boys and girls have been selected for the training free of cost. Students whose parents’ annual income is below Rs 2 lakh were selected.
The students would compulsorily have to attend 90 per cent classes. They would get training in two batches. While 50 will get training from 7.30 to 10 am, the rest 50 would get training from 6 to 8 pm.
