Bhubaneswar: A state-of-the-art power control technology centre, stated to be the first of its kind in the country, was launched in Odisha on Saturday to provide real-time data monitoring facility.

Speaking on the modern technology centre, Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo told reporters that real-time data of the four power distribution agencies can be monitored through this facility.

In case of power breakdown anywhere, immediate steps can be taken to address the issue and ensure quick restoration of electricity supply through constant monitoring from the technology centre, he said.

This apart, in case of warning about cyclonic storm of other adverse weather conditions, the authorities would be able to take appropriate steps to deal with the situation, the Deputy CM said.

The advanced technology would play a significant role in reducing human error and making electricity management more efficient, he said, adding that the pattern of electricity consumption in a particular house can also be monitored from the technology centre.

Allegations of excess electricity bills can also be dealt with as the technology provides real-time data on electricity usage, Singh Deo said, adding it will also help detect power theft and ensure accurate billing.
