Bhubaneswar: A fake news on the death of senior BJP leader Samir Dey posted by Law Minister Pratap Jena on social media has been deleted.
According to sources, Jena on Monday had tweeted his condolences on the alleged death of the former MLA of Cuttack.
As the post went viral on social media, the family members of Dey expressed resentment. Soon after, the president of Cuttack Nagar BJP unit, Lalatendu Badu, clarified that the health condition of Dey is stable and he is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Criticising the law minister for spreading false news on social media, he said the post had made many of his supporters angry and uncomfortable. “The person who shared the news should have cross-checked its veracity before sharing it on social media,” Badu said.
