Cuttack: The Orissa High Court Bar Association is celebrating the 99th birth anniversary of noted freedom fighter Bibhudhendra Mishra on Saturday. The celebration is held in association with Bibhudhendra Mishra Jayanti Committee.
To mark the occasion, a programme on Bibhudhendra Mishra will be aired on Doordarshan at 9 pm, informed lawyer Prasanna Kumar Nanda.
Born on November 30, 1920 at Kandheibentasahi in Puri, Bibhudhendra Mishra was a close associate of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and also a former Union Minister.
In a meeting on Friday, the Bar Association decided to celebrate his 100th birth anniversary across the year.
For the centenary celebrations, blood donations, tree plantations, moot court competitions in universities, and many more programmes will be organised, informed Bar Association president Gopalkrushna Mohanty and secretary Sanjaya Kumar Das.
Among others, Bar Association members Piyush Mishra, Jateswar Nayak, Padmalaya Mohanpatra and Somnath Satpathy were present in the meeting.
