In the remote district of Kalahandi, Panchanan Duria, a lecturer in English of RC College, is winning award after award.
First, it was ‘Best Language Teacher of the Year’ award at the International Education Awards 2019 in Goa on December 21, and now, it is ‘Global Teacher Role Model Award-2019’ in the category of Best Innovative Academic Concept/Ideas in Mumbai. The award was presented at the Global Teachers Conference 2019 organised by MVLA Trust at Mumbai on December 22.
Duria’s innovative idea ‘English Support’ programme in 2013 has helped in upping the English skills of rural youths of KBK region and make them empowered.
The support programme requires just Rs 100 to 200 as registration fee for the one month course and is held during summer or Durga Puja vacations. Duria and his team reportedly take care of most of the expenses from their own pocket.
Earlier, Duria had penned a book ,’Ripples’, which is used by Class VIII students of CBSE.
