Sonepur: The Special Task Force (STF) team of the Crime Branch seized a leopard skin and arrested a person during a raid in Boudh district on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, the STF team conducted a raid near Bandhanjhulli under Manamunda Police limits and arrested Mahendra Bhaina of Badalguda village and seized a leopard skin and other incriminating materials from his possession.
The seized leopard skin will be sent to Wildlife Institute of India in Dehradun for chemical examination.
It may be mentioned that in its special drive against wildlife criminals/poachers last year, the STF has seized 14 leopard skins, 9 elephant tusks, 2 deer skins, 3 live pangolin and 5 kg pangolin scales.
While 28 poachers have been arrested, 16 cases have been registered against the poachers.
