Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience a hotter February this year with average temperature set to rise by a few degrees.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state is likely to experience a rise in the day temperature in February. Several parts of the state are likely to record above normal maximum temperature (day temperature) during the month.
Speaking to media persons on Monday, Uma Shankar Dash, scientist, regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar said the day temperature in Odisha in the month normally hovers around 31 to 32 degree Celsius. This year, it is likely to go up to 34 to 35 degree, he added.
“The mercury is likely to go up in south-coastal districts of the state. But there will be no heat wave-like condition in February,” Dash said.
Meanwhile, the IMD, in its monthly outlook for rainfall and temperature during February, has forecast below normal rainfall in northeast, east, and east central India and many parts of northwest India.
