Bhubaneswar: With 300 of 7,109 samples testing positive for COVID and 511 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the active tally in Odisha touched 4,158 on Thursday, according to data shared by the state health health department.
The slight drop in new infections was also reflected in the test positivity rate (TPR), which dipped to 4.2% from 4,5% the previous day when the state had reported 329 cases (May 3) and 5.14% on Tuesday with 291 cases (May 2) amid a significant rise in the number of testing.
Odisha has been witnessing a decline in the COVID graph since April 28 when the highest 573 cases were detected. The cases dropped to 516 on April 29 and then to 388 on April 30 while 279 cases were reported on May 1. The state has confirmed 9 COVID deaths so far this year.
Despite the declining TPR and cases notwithstanding, Odisha has the second highest active cases after Kerala at 8,244. Maharastra is a distant third at 2,879.
