Bhubaneswar: The upward trend in daily COVID cases continued for the second consecutive day in Odisha with 387 cases being detected from 6,308 samples in the last 24 hours, the state health department informed on Thursday.
This is highest single-day tally in the last eight months.
The fresh infections has pushed the active tally past 2,000. The state now has 2,177 active cases while the test positivity rate (TPR) stands at 6.1%.
Odisha had reported 377 new cases on Wednesday, which was a spike of 40 per cent since the previous day, and a TPR of 5.58%. The daily caseloads on Tuesday and Monday were 269 and 268 respectively.
Notably, the weekly TPR was above 10% in three districts – Sonepur (15.5), Sundargarh (14.26) and Sambalpur (12.67) during April 10-16. Odisha is among the 10 states fuelling the country’s tally.
