Bhubaneswar: A day after witnessing a sharp fall, the daily COVID caseload in Odisha touched 40 on Saturday (April 2).
The state had reported 21 cases on Friday (April 1) and 32 on Thursday (March 31) while 59 were found infected the day before, which was a jump of almost 60 per cent from 37 on March 29.
According to the I & PR department, 24 of the new cases are from quarantine and 16 local contacts. Among them, 2 are in the age group of 0-18 years. The fresh infections have been reported from eight districts with the highest of 22 from Angul.
Here are the district-wise figures of the new cases:
1. Angul: 22
2. Balasore: 1
3. Gajapati: 2
4. Jajpur: 2
5. Jharsuguda: 2
6. Khurda: 3
7. Mayurbhanj: 3
8. Sambalpur: 5
With these cases being detected from 39,291 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 0.10 per cent.
Odisha now has 365 active cases with these additions and 41 recoveries in the last 24 hours. Keonjhar and Nayagarh continue to remain in the COVID-free zone.
