Angul: Odisha lost a Covid-19 warrior on Sunday when ASHA worker Abanti Pradhan died in Angul district while on duty.
The 50-year-old healthcare worker is a resident of Urukula village, under Kishore Nagar block, in Angul.
According to eye witnesses, Abanti was conducting a door-to-door survey related to the coronavirus outbreak at the village when she fell to the ground and collapsed.
She was rushed to Kishor Nagar Community Healthcare Centre (CHC) in an ambulance. The doctors on duty pronounced her dead.
Healthcare workers have been playing a major role in the battle against Covid-19.
Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik had earlier announced that Covid-19 warriors who lose their lives would be accorded state funeral and martyr status besides their families being given cash and job.
