Berhampur: A man was arrested for allegedly torturing his wife for more dowry and uploading her obscene photos on social media in Buguda area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
The accused, identified as Rajendra Pradhan alias Munna (30) of Mangarajpur Dangisahi village under Buguda police station limit, had got married to Gitanjali of Karchuli area of the district in February last year, police sources said.
However, the couple frequently entered into quarrels ever since their marriage as Rajendra often raised questions over his wife’s character.
Rajendra’s wife lodged a complaint with the police on January 5 accusing him of posting her obscene pictures on social media and torturing her for dowry. A case was registered on the basis of her complaint, they said.
Subsequently, Rajendra was arrested and forwarded to the court. He also returned the articles, brought by his wife as dowry, in the presence of police personnel, the sources added.
