Odisha Man Gets 10 Years In Jail For Raping Minor Twice

Phulbani: A special POCSO court on Tuesday sentenced a man to 10 years in jail for the rape of minor girl in Phulbani.

Sources said that Sribastha Diggal of Manikeswari area under Raikia police limits of Kandhamal district kidnapped a girl while she was on her way to school and raped her in November 2013. After committing the crime, Diggal fled from the village but again raped the girl while she was on her way to her aunt’s house at Gardingia the following year.

The girls father had lodged a complaint with Raikia police station on November 18, 2014.

Based on the complaint, the police had registered a case and arrested the accused.

The court gave the verdict after taking into consideration the statement of 11 witnesses and the girl, police records and medical reports.
