Baripada: A court in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj has sentenced a 25-year-old man to life imprisonment for raping a woman, three years ago.
The incident took place in March 21 in an area under Moroda police limits when the 22-year-old woman had gone to relieve herself. He dragged the married woman to behind a bush and raped her, according to the prosecution.
Fast Track Special Court Judge Santosh Kumar Nayak pronounced the verdict after examining statements of the survivor and 12 witnesses, besides the medical report. A fine of Rs 10,000 has also been slapped on the convict, the PTI reported.
