Cuttack: A man allegedly killed his son and buried his body in the backyard of his house at Gobara village under Gurudijhatia Tehsil in Cuttack district.
Police have exhumed the body and arrested accused father Narendra Dehury.
His younger son, who helped him to plot the murder which took place on Sunday, is absconding.
According to sources, 28-year-old Kunia was a habitual drinker and his wife had also left him because of this habit a year ago. Unable to bear with this nuisance, Narendra and his younger son Titua murdered Kunia with an axe on Sunday and later buried his body in the backyard to eliminate evidence.
However, locals became suspicious over his long absence and informed the police.
Gurudijhatia police reached the house on Thursday and interrogated the family members during which Narendra confessed to his crime.
A scientific team will visit the spot for investigation on Friday, the sources added.
