Nabarangpur: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife in a fit of rage and concealing her body inside the septic tank of their toilet at Bargaon village under Raighar police limits in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district.
The crime came to light dramatically when the couple’s four-year-old son spilled the beans on the horrific act, claiming that his father had killed his mother and hidden her body in the tank. Shocked villagers immediately informed the police, leading to the recovery of the bod
y and the arrest of the accused late on Sunday night.
According to sources, the incident took place on Saturday. Subash Gond and his wife, Manei Gond, had returned home around noon after attending a wedding with family members. They had a quarrel, which soon escalated, and Subash allegedly killed Manei in front of their children. He kept the body inside the house throughout the day before dragging it out around midnight and dumping it into the septic tank.
On Sunday, Subash attempted to cover up the crime by claiming his wife had left the house and gone somewhere. When villagers grew suspicious and pressed him for details, he remained evasive. It was the young boy who broke the silence, narrating the events in front of the gathered villagers and exposing his father’s actions.
Raighar police rushed to the spot and recovered Manei’s body from the septic tank. Gond was arrested on the spot.
