Odisha Man Posts Ad For Bullet Sale, Gets Duped By Buyer

Nuapada: A doctor and a corporate employee of Cuttack, a businessman of Kalahandi district, a young man of Bhubaneswar and so on. The list of people tricked by cyber fraudsters is seeing a surge.

The latest victim in the list is a youth from Komna area of Nuapada district. As per the youth, Shahrukh Khan, he had put up an advertisement on social media platform to sell his Royal Enfield bullet.

Little did he know,  that he would end up losing Rs 1.21 lakh in the process. A caller identifying himself as Ram Swarup, an army officer wanted to buy the bullet.

As an assurance of his interest, he transferred Rs 5,000 to Shahrukh’s account and later sent a QR code asking Shahrukh to scan the code to receive the remaining amount.

Shakrukh scanned the QR code and lost Rs 1.21 lakh from his bank account.

He has filed a complaint. Nuapada SP Rahul Jain has urged people not to share personnel details with anyone.

“Cyber criminals are active now due to Covid-19 lockdown and shutdown and online offences are on the rise. I request all not to share personal banking information like bank details, ATM pin and OTP with anyone. Besides, do not click on unknown links,” he said.
