Odisha Man Shot Dead By Son Over Property Dispute

Baripada: A youth allegedly shot dead his father following a dispute over property at a village in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, reports said on Wednesday.

The incident took place at Kashikundal village under the jurisdiction of Udala police station of the district on Tuesday night. The accused, identified as Kailash Naik, fled after allegedly killing his father, Tilu Naik, sources said.

A verbal exchange erupted between the two over issues relating to property. The heated argument turned violent when the youth took out a country-made gun and shot at his father, killing him.

On getting information, a team of police personnel from Udala rushed to the site and seized the body which was sent for post-mortem. The crude gun used in the crime was also seized.

Investigation into the incident was in progress and efforts are on to trace the accused, who was on the run, they added.
