Agra: A 30-year-old youth from Odisha has walked a distance of 1,350
km to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and remind him of the promises
he had once made to the people of his hometown, Rourkela.
Muktikant Biswal, an idol-maker by profession, started his journey on
foot from Rourkela on April 16. He carried the National Flag in his
hand, which, he says, motivated him.
PM Modi, on one of his visits to Odisha, four years ago, had promised
to upgrade the Ispat General hospital to a super specialty hospital
and to complete the construction of the Brahmani Bridge, Muktikant
said.
“Ispat General Hospital is the lifeline of Rourkela, and it is in such
a bad shape that people die there every day”, Muktikant told ANI.
Muktikant’s journey wasn’t easy when he fainted on the Agra Highway
and had to be hospitalised. But the spirited young man has not lost
hope and is optimistic that the PM will fulfil the promises made to
the people of his village.
