Sambalpur: A 37-year-old married man has been arrested in Odisha’s Sambalpur for allegedly staging his own murder as a part of a plot to elope with his girlfriend and marry her.

According to sources, police traced Pandita Oram, a gym trainer, from Jamadarpali in Sambalpur to Deograh district on Saturday during investigation on the basis of a missing complaint lodged by his wife at Hirakud police station on Friday.

He had created a murder scene by damaging his scooter and using chicken blood at Athra Hazaar Cyphon area. “He planned everything meticulously. The scene was made to look like a murder,” Additional SP, Sambalpur, Haresh Pandey told a national daily.
